READ BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

Please read all submission guidelines before submitting. By clicking "submit" you agree to the following terms: Granting SkeenaWild Conservation Trust a royalty-free, non-exclusive right to: • Display the photograph or film on www.skeenawild.org, www.skeenawildfilmfestival.com, SkeenaWild Facebook Page, and Instagram account and other social media accounts. • Allow third-parties to share photographs and films on social media. • Use the photograph or films in SkeenaWild Conservation Trust's internal and external communications materials including, but not limited to, websites and web publications, fact sheets, fundraising publications, advertising, multimedia, presentation and membership services, and annual report. • Provide your photograph or film to other individuals and organizations for conservation-related use in news stories, newsletters, reports, slide shows, displays, web pages, videos, membership premiums, and the like. • Use, in connection with the SWFF, your name in promotions and other publications. • Retain a digital copy of your photograph or film that will be archived in our media library and accessible to staff via the internal archive. You will retain all rights and credit to any photograph or film you submit. GENERAL CONDITIONS In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the SkeenaWild Film and Photo Festival (SWFF hereafter) is impaired in any way, SkeenaWild Conservation Trust (SWCT hereafter) may, in its sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the SWFF to address the impairment and then resume the SWFF; or (b) award the prize(s) from among the eligible submissions received up to the time of the impairment. SWCT reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify and seek damages from any individual who tampers with the operation of the SWFF, violates these Official Rules & Regulations, or acts in a disruptive or unsportsmanlike manner. SWCT’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules & Regulations shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. In the event of a dispute as to the owner of an online submission, the authorized account holder of the email, content and address used to enter will be deemed to be the owner. The SWFF is subject to federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. RELEASE AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY By submitting, you agree to release and hold harmless SWCT, Facebook, their respective partners or affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the SWFF or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the SWFF; (b) technical errors; (c) printing errors; (d) late or undelivered submissions; (e) errors in the administration of the SWFF; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property involved. You waive the right to claim any attorneys’ fees and any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. SWFF Rules & Regulations: Eligibility The SkeenaWild Film & Photo Festival is open to all Canadian and international photographers and film makers. The subject matter of your submission must consist of stories, adventures and information connected directly or in part to the Skeena Watershed, the surrounding region and or tributaries throughout Northern B.C. Film makers and photographers must provide their full name, location and age. Failure to provide such proof within a reasonable period of time could result in disqualification. Number of Submissions All photos and films must be original and in either colour or black and white. Photographers and filmmakers may submit one entry per category for a maximum of two films (Feature + Short) and three photos (Wild People, Wild Places, Wild Things). Youth (16 and under) filmmakers and photographers are asked to submit one entry per category for a total of one youth film and one youth photo. Photos and films must be your own and not copied or reproduced from a third party source. Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to participate. Photo Subject Restrictions Photos and films must be appropriate for posting on SkeenaWild’s public website and social media channels. Obscene, offensive, provocative or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. SkeenaWild Conservation Trust retains the sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content. Photo Formats Photo submissions must be digital images and may be either black and white or colour. Images should be high-res and no smaller than 300 dpi at 1800 by 1200 pixels and no larger than 25MB. Images must be submitted in jpg format. Digital images should match the quality and character of the original digital capture and be a true representation of the subject matter. Image Modifications Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified. •Not Permitted: •No borders or frames may be added to images. •No composite images, including images created from separate images, multiple exposures or images that have had elements removed. •No watermarks, signatures or copyright notices may be added to images. All winning images will be displayed with the photographer’s name. •No adding or replacing elements within an image. •No artistic filters are permitted. •Permitted Modifications: •Images may be cropped. •Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained, however photos submitted in their original resolution are strongly preferred. •Red-eye removal and spot editing is permitted. •Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, colour balance and tint is permitted. Film Format Film submissions must be High-Definition (HD) quality or higher, with a minimum resolution of 1920 x 1080p in either MPGE4. or MOV. formats. All film submissions must not exceed 1GB in size. Photographer/ Filmmaker Copyright All photos and films must be submitted by the original photographer/ filmmaker. Do not submit a photo or film made by someone other than you. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any work submitted. Judging Criteria Submissions will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality and effectiveness in conveying a true depiction of the subject matter. Special emphasis will be placed on selecting a winning photo or film that showcases the Skeena Watershed and surrounding regions. Entries that fail to comply with theses Guidelines will be disqualified. The decisions of the judges are final. Winners A panel of Judges will select category Finalists in late October. Finalists will be notified approximately 2 weeks prior to the launch of the SkeenaWild Film & Photo Festival, which takes place during the month of November. Winning photos and films will be selected by audience members who attend and vote on the finalist's entries. Photographer’s and filmmaker's names will be displayed on the SkeenaWild Film & Photo Festival website. Each winning entry will receive a select prize package upon confirmation of your winning entry. Limitation of Liability Under no circumstances will SkeenaWild be liable to any person, business or organization entity for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or other damages based on any use of your submissions. SkeenaWild Conservation Trust is not responsible for (i) lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete or late entries or (ii) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing of submissions. Right to Cancel or Suspend the Festival SkeenaWild Conservation Trust reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or any portion of the SkeenaWild Film and Photo Festival without notice if factors beyond SkeenaWild’s control, including technical difficulties that disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration or operation of the festival. Laws and Regulations It is the responsibility of all photographers and filmmakers to adhere to all federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations that may apply. Use of Personal Information By submitting your work and personal information, photographers and filmmakers agree to SkeenaWild’s Privacy Policy for the collection, use, and disclosure of information, and Terms of Use for all submissions. All photographers and filmmakers agree to allow SkeenaWild the use of all submissions for use on SkeenaWild Conservation Trust and SkeenaWild Film and Photo Festival websites, annual report, brochures, newsletters or other SkeenaWild promotional materials without any fee or other form of compensation or notification and the right to use the photographer or filmmakers name as a credit.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Programming is focused on documentaries, video montages, and photography. All formats and/or topics are welcome.

  • SWFF accepts video submissions of the following: short and feature length films.

  • Selected films and images must grant SWFF the right to use for SkeenaWild Conservation Trust promotional purposes.
